The EnSolv FLC formulation dissolves oil residues and sludges formed by microbial growth and inhibits re-colonisation.
A joint venture between Achor and Enviro Tech Europe has resulted in a specialist product, EnSolv FLC, for aircraft fuel and tank cleaning.
Achor specialises in detection and control of microbial contamination and Enviro Tech specialises in all aspects of degreasing, using its EnSolv product range.
The EnSolv FLC formulation dissolves oil residues and sludges formed by microbial growth and inhibits re-colonisation in fuel systems for aircraft, trains and other military and public vehicles.
It is designed to meet the increasingly recognised threat to performance and safety and corrosive attack due to microorganisms contaminating all aspects of aircraft, fuel structure and electronic systems.
EnSolv FLC is nonacidic and noncorrosive, is fast drying and compatible with most metals and plastics, including titanium.
EnSolv FLC will be introduced at Paris Air Show from 18th June 2007 at Hall 4 Stand G13.
The need and specification was determined based on research by Dr Eddy Weir into the extent and effects of contamination of aviation and defence electronics and collaborative research with Chris Barry into the interaction of microorganisms in corrosive processes and their growth and safe elimination in engineered systems and in aviation and fuel oils.
Commenting on a development, Chris Barry, Managing Director of Achor and a qualified microbiologist said "These are very specialised areas and it takes a great deal of development and co-operation to solve issues around fuel line and tank cleaning in areas like aerospace".
