A new, enhanced Control Builder has been integrated into the Emerson Process Management Ovation expert control system.
A new, enhanced Control Builder has been integrated into the Emerson Process Management Ovation expert control system.
The Control Builder is used by Ovation customers to create and edit control logic.
The new Control Builder, part of Ovation's comprehensive suite of engineering tools, incorporates improved drawing and viewing features that offer users enhanced flexibility, ease of use, and collaborative engineering capabilities.
The Ovation system is a key technology that powers Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture.
The new Control Builder supports the use of advanced algorithms and new smart control strategies that leverage technologies such as fuzzy logic, artificial intelligence and digital bus interfaces to help users maximise efficiency and lower operating costs.
Unlike third-party packages, the drawing capabilities in the new Ovation Control Builder are tailored specifically for creating and editing control logic, simplifying and streamlining the logic development process.
The Ovation Control Builder features a more comprehensive and intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) for control building, as well as simplified navigation and reporting capabilities.
The Control Builder presents information in an industry-supported SAMA format and also provides online/offline documentation of control strategies.
Another new feature, the Control Builder displays logic execution in a standard, editable PDF environment.
Rendering the logic in this format opens the door to file sharing not only within the user's organisation, but also among EPC contractors, architect-engineering firms, and control system and equipment vendors.
This type of engineering collaboration during the control design process allows all parties to stay informed while also maximising productivity and efficiency.
