EFAC has launched a quarterly statistics programme for the assembly and handling technology industry called the EFAC Quick Survey.

EFAC has launched a quarterly statistics programme for the assembly and handling technology industry called the EFAC Quick Survey.

Although data are only usually available to the participating companies, on this occasion the EFAC Board has decided to disseminate the results through the press.

A full report of the survey will be published in the January 2003 issue of the UK magazine Industrial Technology, and is also available by email from the Editor, Andy Pye on andy@andypye.com.

The Quick Survey is open to all manufacturers of assembly and handling technology in Europe.

The European turnover of assembly and handling technology suppliers is estimated at approximately Eur 12 billion.

More than 100 such companies, accounting for more than 12,000 employees, participate in this quarterly survey.

Currently, the survey is undertaken in France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, covering some two-thirds of the European market.

Further countries are expected to join in the near future.

All companies manufacturing assembly and handling technology in Europe are invited to participate in the survey in return for receiving valuable market trend information free of charge.

The results of the EFAC Quick Survey give rise to moderate optimism.

The suppliers of this technology are gradually returning to a growth path.

If the expected global economy upturn materialises during the course of 2003, the European assembly and handling technology industry will rapidly gain dynamism.

More statistics are expected to be launched in 2003, including a European benchmarking study for the assembly industry.
