The latest range of book converter filters from Epcos, the new B84143-B, has a higher attenuation characteristic, for more rigorous Class B noise suppression applications.

The latest range of book converter filters from Epcos, the new B84143-B, has a higher attenuation characteristic than the other members of the family making it ideal for more rigorous Class B noise suppression applications Typically used in frequency converters for motor drives, it can be used to optimise the performance of lifts, pumps, traction/conveyer systems and air-conditioning

Other suitable uses include power supplies, wind farms, and in fact any three-phase systems that require filtering of the power line.

B84143-B filters are designed for rated currents from 8 to 200A.

Both 480 and 530V models are available, housed in compact book-shaped metal casings that have a significantly reduced space requirement.

The 8A filter for example, is 19% smaller, 41% lighter and has a footprint only 38% that of conventional filters.

The 'ultra slim' design makes the filters ideal for direct mounting on converters.

Being able to 'slide' a very thin filter down the side of a drive is particularly useful in control cabinets where space is at a premium.

Terminals are provided on the input side, while the stranded wires at the output can be connected straight to the converter.

These features can significantly reduce the time and cost of assembly.

The B84143-B is optimised for long motor cables and operation under full load.

High insertion loss and a low leakage current, mean that they always perform at optimum efficiency.

The filters are suitable for use at both 50 and 60Hz.

Construction complies with UL283, EN 133 200, CSA 22.2 no.8 1986, making these devices suitable for export throughout Europe and North America.
