Epcos launches NTC thermistors databook

An Epcos product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 24, 2001

Epcos has released a catalogue of its broad range of NTC thermistors, for temperature measurement in domestic appliances, automobiles, and heating systems

This new catalogue allows users to quickly find a solution for virtually every application.

The catalogue clearly classifies the Epcos range available - from surface mount devices (SMDs) through moisture-resistant miniature sensors to glass-encapsulated models that can withstand temperatures up to 500C.

The electrical resistance of ceramic NTC thermistors decreases as a nonlinear function of increasing temperature and coupled with their high sensitivity and reliability makes them the ideal temperature sensor solution.

NTC-controlled electronic circuits play a major role in creating innovative, energy-saving end-products focused on user comfort and convenience.

Because of their high temperature coefficient, these thermistors are also suitable for compensating unwanted temperature response in semiconductor circuits.

Devices like switch-mode power supplies, electric motors, or transformers are subjected to peak currents at turn-on that can be prevented by the use of NTC thermistors - saving energy and safeguarding the follow-up circuitry and components.

Even though Epcos provides a solution in this catalogue for almost every application, the company's wealth of expertise also allows it to produce NTC thermistors precisely to customer specifications.

Different finishing processes enable it to offer sensors that are precisely tailored to the particular application.
