The Education Working Group of the European Powder Metallurgy Association is pleased to announce the launch of the Powder Metallurgy Thesis Competition 2000 Following the presentation of the European Powder Metallurgy Association's PM Thesis Competition Awards in 1996 and 1998, the Education Working Group (EWG) of the EPMA is organising the PM Thesis Competition 2000 for theses on powder metallurgy at both Diploma (Masters) and Doctorate (PhD) levels

The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) held its 11th General Assembly and Management Seminar in Lindau, Germany, in mid-May 2000, attended by some 70 members and guests.
Powder metallurgy training begins in Germany
The European Powder Metallurgy Association is holding a new series of training courses on powder metallurgy for young materials and design engineers.
The aim of this competition is to develop interest in and promote powder metallurgy among young scientists at European academic establishments, and to encourage research at under-graduate and post-graduate levels.
Prize Winners will receive a cheque for 750 euro for the Diploma/Masters category or 1000 euro for the Doctorate/PhD category.
The winners will be presented with their prizes at the EURO PM2000 Conference, Munich, October 18-20, 2000, and will also have the opportunity to make a short presentation at this event.
The thesis must have been accepted or approved by the applicants teaching establishment during the 1997/1998, 1998/1999 or 1999/2000 academic years and judges will pay particular attention to the originality of the topic, scientific and practical interest, how the thesis will stimulate further R and D and the overall presentation of the paper.
