The '2nd European Symposium on Powder Injection Moulding' (PIM2000) is set to take place during EURO PM2000 at the new Munich Trade Fair Centre, Germany, from 18-20 October, 2000.

With the global market for PIM products estimated to exceed US$500 million, this rapidly growing sector will face continuing technological challenges in the many areas of PIM design and production.

The symposium will consist of invited presentations discussing the following main areas of the technology: - Processing and Characterisation of PIM Powders - Developments in and Characterisation of PIM Feedstocks - Injection Moulding and Determination of Shrinkage - PIM Process Modelling - Mechanical and Dynamic Properties of PIM Materials - Dimensional Accuracy in PIM Processing - Microstructural Analysis - Corrosion Properties of PIM Components - Application Case Studies Also discussed in detail at the symposium will be the results of the EU-funded Thematic Network on developing European Standards and guidelines on Metal Injection Moulding (MIMNet), which concludes its three year programme in September 2000.

The First Announcement covering all EURO PM2000 events, location, travel and accommodation information is now available from the European Powder Metallurgy Association.

The full technical programme and registration details will be made available on the EPMAs website.
