The winners of this year's EPMA Innovation in PM Awards were honoured at a special lunch during the PM2004 World Congress in Vienna.

The winners of this year's EPMA Innovation in PM Awards were honoured at a special lunch during the PM2004 World Congress in Vienna With 1,000 people in attendance in the Austria Centre Vienna, prizes were awarded in four categories

The competition, which is open to all EPMA member companies, covered components, materials, process equipment and the international award.

In each category a panel of expert judges gave marks to each of the 30 entries using a number of criteria: The extent of cost savings or improved quality; The level of interest of the product; Stimulation of further usage; Novelty and preparation of the entry.

The organisers reported a very high standard of entries.

The award of merit went to MIBA AG of Austria, whilst Parmaco of Switzerland and Sintermetal of Spain were highly commended.

In the materials section the award of merit was won by Umicore of Belgium, whilst the highly commended company was Eurotungstene of France.

In the process equipment category Lauffer Pressen of Germany won the award of merit, whilst in the international award category the award of merit went to Hitachi Powder Metal of Japan, with Pacific Sintered Metals of USA was highly commended.
