The ground-breaking online searchable database GPMD was launched in 2004 as a joint project between the world's three leading regional trade associations.

Now, the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) and its sister organisations in Japan (JPMA) and North America (MPIF) are implementing a series of upgrades to enhance its capabilities and to increase its attractiveness to new and existing users.

First, the number of lines of ferrous structural materials has been increased by some 20% giving a total of nearly 2500 lines of data.

Secondly, an additional section containing nonferrous structural data is to be added to cover the part of the PM market that relies on these materials.

The database has its own website at www.pmdatabase.com and provides verified physical, mechanical and fatigue data for a range of commercially available PM materials.

The data is displayed in a user-friendly format with the useful ability to allow downloads of certain information to commonly used FEA packages.

Further improvements and extensions to the database are currently under development and will be announced later in the year.

Users can register free of charge in order to access the database.
