GPMD database expands

An European Powder Metallurgy Association product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 16, 2007

Two sections have been added to the GPMD online database in 2007.

The GPMD online database was launched in 2004 as a joint project between a regional PM trade associations, the EPMA and its sister organisations in North America (MPIF) and Japan (JPMA).

The GPMD has its own web site and provides verified physical, mechanical and fatigue data for a range of commercially available PM materials.

The data is displayed in a user-friendly format with the useful ability to allow downloads of certain information to commonly used FEA packages.

During the last two years the database has been refined and the amount of ferrous structural materials has been increased to a total of some 2500 lines of high-quality data.

However it has always been the intention to continue to develop and improve the scope and content and in the latest developments launched in 2007 two additional sections are being added.

The first contains over 100 lines of non-ferrous structural data, thus enabling access to the 5-10% of the PM market that relies on these materials.

The second is a further extension of the database to cover MIM materials.

So far over 125 lines of MIM data has been added and the search criteria modified to allow for the differing properties of the MIM grades.

In addition the EPMA will be funding the generation of more data during 2007 to help fill gaps that are seen within the current database.

Users can register free of charge in order to access the database.
