Epiphan introduces KVM internet appliance

An Epiphan Systems product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 2, 2009

Epiphan Systems has introduced the KVM2Ethernet: an internet appliance that allows users to add remote KVM capability to any computerised device.

The KVM2Ethernet does not require the device being accessed to have any sort of software installed on it, nor does it require the machine being administered to be connected to the internet or a network.

The appliance is suitable for network isolation scenarios where, for example, a server needs to be physically taken offline for security reasons, eliminating native remote KVM access.

The KVM2Ethernet connects to the offline server and allows users to access it.

As it receives access to it through the VGA and PS/2/USB ports, communication with the server is fully secure.

The KVM2Ethernet provides remote access to virtually any computerised device that has a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

It works with any VGA resolution up to 1,600 x 1,200.

It is able to capture the video from any VGA stream and send it over a network in 100 per cent lossless quality and at frame rates in excess of 30fps.

Aside video capture and a KVM device used for network isolation, the KVM2Ethernet can also be used as a keyboard, a mouse and a VGA signal extender as it has the ability to broadcast the KVM signal over a network to several machines.
