Spectrum to run vibration and shock testing course

An Equipment Reliability Institute product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 9, 2009

Spectrum Technologies will run the 'Fundamentals and Practice of Random Vibration and Shock Testing, ESS, HALT and HASS' course at its test lab in Michigan, from 5-7 October, 8.00 - 16.00.

The aim of the course is heightened reliability of electronic and other hardware.

ESS stands for environmental stress screening, HALT for highly accelerated life testing and HASS for highly accelerated stress screening.

Spectrum Technologies is a commercial testing-laboratory that offers simultaneous multi-axis vibration testing on electro-dynamic shakers.

The October course will deal with accelerometers used in measuring vibrations over the road, over the waves, in flight and during rocket launch and powered flight.

Accelerometer signals are usually tele-metered to recording stations.

The resulting data can be used to generate programs to control shakers.

Shakers test parts of future vehicles.

During the course, participants will see, hear and feel shakers and shock-test machines and will witness tests and screening.
