How to maximise the life of high voltage plant

An ERA Technology product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 17, 2000

Understanding business-critical criteria leads to formulation of more effective maintenance approaches, says John Rimell, Business Development Executive at ERA Technology

"Companies need to take an innovative approach in managing their assets so that they can optimise business performance and gain a competitive edge", says John Rimell, Business Development Executive at ERA Technology Ltd.

In his paper to be presented at the High Voltage Plant Life Extension Conference in Belgium he stresses that "the link between the condition of assets and its impact on the ever-changing business drivers faced by an organisation is crucial to the effectiveness of an asset management plan." As deregulation and competition sweep through European electricity markets, economic pressure is increasing and companies are looking to drive their assets harder.

Therefore asset management strategy plays a critical role in determining shareholder value, competitive edge and ultimately the survival of an organisation.

The objective of an asset management plan is to provide a framework against which investment and maintenance decisions can be made, maximising the long-term profitability and financial security of the business.

"Forward-looking businesses recognise the need to take a fresh look at their asset management approach, taking into account all of the business drivers and understanding the need for a strategic, long-term plan to deliver their financial and performance objectives", explains Rimell.

"Understanding business-critical criteria leads to formulation of more effective maintenance approaches, delivering significant operational cost reduction, improved capital investment planning and lifetime management as well as reduced outage times." Rimells paper will be presented at the conference High Voltage Plant Life Extension, organised by ERA Technology Ltd, on 23-24 November 2000 at Laborelec, Linkebeek, Belgium.

The intensive two-day conference will address the technical and business challenges and solutions for maximising the life of high voltage plant.

With a blend of high-level business issues and detailed technical papers, the event is an excellent opportunity to hear the practical experiences and latest information from the key players in the industry.
