Dr Bruce Dean, Head of Asset Management Solutions at ERA Technology, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Power Industries Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers

Dr Bruce Dean, Head of Asset Management Solutions at ERA Technology Ltd, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Power Industries Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for a three-year term of office The Board has 30 senior representatives from companies and government departments involved in the power sector

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers was founded 150 years ago and is one of the major UK engineering institutions with over 83,000 members.

As well as the Power Industries Division with 14,000 members, the Institution has divisions covering aerospace, automobile, manufacturing, medical engineering, process and railways.

"I feel very honoured to be given this opportunity to influence the development of strategy in the Power Industries Division for the benefit of the Members.

The power sector is changing rapidly in the UK and internationally, so it is an exciting time to be involved as Chairman," Bruce comments.

The Power Industries Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers promotes the safe, efficient, cost-effective and environmentally sensible generation and utilisation of non-motive power.

It provides a national and international focus for the dissemination of mechanical engineering knowledge and best practice in the power industry through conferences, seminars and other meetings and discussion groups.
