Vibratory feeders and more at Pakex 2001

An Eriez Magnetics Europe product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 5, 2001

Eriez Magnetics will be appearing for the first time at the Pakex show this year with a selection of products from an extensive range of vibratory feeders, magnetic separators and metal detectors

Eriez Magnetics will be appearing for the first time at the Pakex show this year from 2 to 6 April at the NEC, Birmingham.

On stand 3048 Eriez will be exhibiting a selection of products from an extensive range of vibratory feeders, magnetic separators and metal detectors.

Of particular interest to visitors will be a running demonstration of how these products, when combined, can optimally handle material and at the same time remove and check for metal contamination, whether ferrous or non-ferrous.

By eliminating metal contamination, Eriez products offer good payback on investment by preventing machinery damage, cutting downtime and by improving product safety and value, whether this applies to the end product or an element thereof.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see Eriez' new design vibratory feeders in operation following their European debut at the PPMA show last autumn.

Of these feeders the High Speed model has been uniquely designed for packing and filling applications where fast flow rates combine with quick start/stop characteristics.

In addition, Pakex will see the launch of the company's new design Pulseparator.

This metal separator detects and removes metal contamination from granular material in free-fall, such as beneath hopper loaders (as in the case of Eriez' demonstration) or on the exit of granulators.

The Pulseparator not only removes ferrous metals down to a 1mm size but non-magnetic, non-ferrous metals, such as copper, brass, etc.

The separator is unique in that it can handle both wet materials and those with a mineral content which other low cost equipment cannot process without false tripping.

The diverter system employed is pneumatically operated to ensure the minimum of good product is rejected with metal contaminates detected.

For monitoring the process line Eriez will demonstrate its conveyor metal detector which is not only very simple to maintain owing to the minimum number of PCBs installed in the control panel but is also a very cost effective solution for reducing contamination whether end-of-line or in-line.

These detectors are available in a number of different configurations, eg with conveyors and associated reject systems, with a choice of search coils and aperture sizes, with a memory capacity for storing up to 50 product signatures, as well as outer case finish to include stainless steel for wet processes.

Eriez also provides metal contamination solutions applying magnetic technology.

Products on show demonstrating Eriez' proven capability in this field include a Magnetic Plate, Magnetic Trap and Magnetic Grate, the latter will be positioned within a transparent hopper and attached to the Pulseparator.

More particularly, Eriez will exhibit its new Megastrength Rare Earth (RE) Tube Magnet which offers over 50% more pulling power on the surface of the tube than Standard Rare Earth Tube Magnets, thus ensuring outstanding performance in the removal of very fine iron or weakly magnetic contaminants, particularly important in processing applications involving foodstuffs or pharmaceutical / chemical powders.
