Eriez Magnetics Europe is a newcomer to the "K" International Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber show held in Dusseldorf this year between 25 October and 1 November.

On Stand 3F52 (Hall 3) Eriez will be demonstrating a unique range of equipment designed to remove, detect and separate problematic ferrous and non-ferrous metals from plastics.

On display for the first time at K will be the Eriez Pulseparator, a superior metal separator used to detect and then eject metal contamination from plastic granules in free-fall applications.

Key features of this unit are the low height, enabling it to be fitted in areas where headroom is limited, the high speed reject system which minimises the quantity of good material rejected with metal and the ability to handle damp granules.

Eriez will also demonstrate the unique SR Model Eddy Current Separator (ECS).

This high intensity, permanent magnetic separator is widely used in the recycling industry for the enhanced separation of fine non-ferrous contamination, including aluminium foils from plastic and rubber granules.

A specific example of where the Eriez SR ECS can be found is in the uPVC window frame making process, where self-tapping screws are part of the profile and need to be removed in the recycling operation.

Very prevalent within the blow moulding industry and used to protect granulators is the company's METALARM 6500 metal detector.

This will be shown mounted on a conveyor section.

A balanced coil metal detector search head will also be displayed.

This unit is designed to check moulded components of materials to be recycled for very small pieces of metal.

For ferrous metal separation, Eriez will be exhibiting the Grate Magnet, which is typically installed in a hopper to remove ferrous contamination from gravity fed granular product, as well as various strengths of Magnetic Tubes, including the Megastrength Rare Earth Tube Magnet with 60% extra pulling power when compared to standard Rare Earth Tubes.

The METALARM 7000 Single Sider and Hand-Held Metal Detectors may also be viewed.

These are used to check for and pinpoint very small pieces of metal in extruded plastic sheet materials, such as thermo-forming applications.

In addition to systems for metal detection and removal are the Eriez' new ranges of vibratory feeders.

These will be integrated into the Eddy Current Separator and Pulseparator displays to demonstrate continuously smooth and effective metering of granular material.
