The addition of Birtley cross belt sampling technology to the Eriez product portfolio in early 2000 has been signalled as a major success in terms of securing new business.
The addition of Birtley cross belt sampling technology to the Eriez product portfolio in early 2000 has been signalled as a major success in terms of securing new business, particularly in the coal and power generation industries.
Orders have been placed by new and existing clients in UK and export markets.
One of the more recent orders was from existing customer Burrows Brothers (Sales) for installation on a mobile conveyor for operation at its Moorhouse Coal and Fireclay site, near Wakefield (UK).
The cross belt sampler will be taking a representative sample of coal from a moving conveyor belt and discharge this to the side of the conveyor into a collection chute.
The Eriez cross belt sampler was chosen because of its ease of installation, particularly within a mobile plant, and its cost effectiveness to operate and maintain relative to the importance of its role in monitoring the quality of the conveyed coal.
Site operators will use this sampling technology to verify that quality parameters and customer standards are being met.
The Eriez cross belt sampler features an uncomplicated design.
It has a specially designed cutter blade wiper which moves in one direction only and a cam activated limit switch to regulate the speed and stopping positions of the cutter.
The sample cutter is of stainless-steel construction and comprises parallel side plates and a back plate positioned to prevent material being retained inside the cutter at the discharge point.
The speed of the cutter is always in excess of the conveyor belt speed but will be set to suit the individual location.
The Eriez cross belt sampler is suitable for most types of trough belt, including deep trough types.
Installation is simple with minimal work required, particularly in retrofit installations.
The cross belt sampler is suitable for open and enclosed locations as well as mobile cross belt sampling.
Eriez cross belt and rotary sampling technology applies to plants handling particulate solids and slurries and can be supplied as individual units or as turnkey systems.
The technology is simple, reliable and cost effective to maintain.
