Detector keeps Mr Creemy metal free

An Eriez Magnetics Europe product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 24, 2004

South Wales based Mr Creemy has installed a metal detector to run final checks on its ice cream cartons for metal contaminants.

South Wales based Mr Creemy, maker of fine ice cream, approached local company Eriez Magnetics Europe to provide a metal detector to run final checks on its ice cream cartons for metal contaminants - in particular stainless steel.

An Eriez Metron 20C metal detector search head in sanitary stainless-steel finish was subsequently installed on a conveyor along which ice cream cartons, tub sizes varying from 85mm to 5 litres, would pass.

Proprietor, Kevin Jenkins, explained that in 2002 a major department store requested that the company gain accreditation with BRC (standards for companies supplying retailer branded food products).

For this it needed to install a metal detector inline.

With the instalment of the Eriez metal detector Mr Creemy was able to gain a higher level BRC.

Jenkins concludes: "With the metal detector installed it gives us complete confidence in our finished product".
