Key Plastics, founded in County Wicklow Ireland in 1986, has grown its design and injection moulding business by building and maintaining customer confidence in its products.

An important step towards gaining this confidence is to custom-design and manufacture products to a high quality specification.

To aid them in this task, Eriez Magnetics has supplied the company with an Eriez E-Z Tec 9000 metal detector to eradicate metal contamination.

The E-Z Tec 9000 is a high sensitivity, balanced coil metal detector and part of a new range of metal detection products developed by Eriez.

The Eriez E-Z Tec 9000 metal detector supplied to Key Plastics has been fitted with an integral slide chute and combination siren/beacon alarm to signal the presence of small screws, washers and various other pieces of stray metal which may have fallen into packets of plastic components prior to sealing.

The sealed packets are placed in a polyethylene container and passed down the inclined slide conveyor.

If any contamination is present the alarm and siren are activated simultaneously and the operator can reject the container immediately.

A spokesperson for Key Plastics comments: "The detector has now given us the confidence to ship large volumes of quality parts to our customers safe in the knowledge that they are free of metal contaminants".

"We should have bought one years ago".
