The industry's most robust family of asset optimisation solutions is now available in Europe to help customers make significant improvements in plant reliability The solutions combine world-class services with innovative technologies to improve process and plant availability, increase operations and maintenance productivity, and reduce equipment cost-of-ownership

Asset optimisation includes products, software and services that ensure customers realise the full value from their investment in Emerson's PlantWeb architecture.

By applying Emerson technologies and working methodologies, Asset Optimisation will harness the power of field intelligence to improve the reliability and efficiency of plant assets.

Emerson's Asset Optimisation offering has grown steadily from its pioneering developments within PlantWeb architecture, using digital communications and diagnostics within field instruments - like valves, transmitters, and analysers - linked to asset management software.

This software, AMS Suite, is now an integrated family of applications for predictive maintenance, performance monitoring and economic optimisation.

AMS Suite uses and powers PlantWeb digital plant architecture to increase the availability of production assets for improved bottom line results.

Asset Optimisation is the part of the PlantWeb Services that will use these tools on your site to provide recommendations for business decisions: these services include implementation, best practices consultation and on-going support.

The scope of AMS Suite includes equipment condition monitoring such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared thermography for rotating and mechanical assets such as motors and pumps.

Emerson also pioneered the first web-based equipment performance monitoring service, called e-fficiency, for remote monitoring of compressors, pumps, turbines, heat exchangers, boilers, furnaces, and other process equipment.

AMS Suite is spearheaded by the new web based AMS Asset Portal software that consolidates and summarises all available asset information, offering a single view into predictive diagnostics on critical plant assets and providing a vital support tool to expedite decision-making processes.

The AMS Asset Portal aggregates and unifies information on the health and performance of mechanical, electrical and process equipment, field instruments and valves; this enables increased employee effectiveness and response time.

It improves the productivity of operations, maintenance and reliability personnel in day-to-day asset management; it also serves management in longer range performance monitoring, historical trend analysis, and more.

At both a tactical and strategic level, AMS Asset Portal harnesses asset diagnostics to enable better decisions.

The powerful dashboards, reports and summaries of AMS Asset Portal enable users to review the overall condition of their assets, view prioritised active alerts, analyse details such as trends in motor faults, compare device configurations, or review compressor performance across multiple plants.

By combining information from diverse sources, AMS Asset Portal enables users to identify conditions such as the efficiency decline in a compressor - and then to pinpoint whether the cause is a mechanical condition, the need for a water wash, or an instrument or valve problem.

Links to other web sites, documentation systems, work procedures and other information related to an asset add to the power of AMS Asset Portal.

Built using the latest technologies, including web services and XML, AMS Asset Portal can span the production assets in a single plant or across an entire enterprise.

All applications in Emerson's AMS Suite, a family of software for predictive maintenance, performance monitoring and economic optimisation, are fully integrated with AMS Asset Portal.

Additionally, the use of open standards, such as XML, enables any manufacturer of diagnostics and predictive maintenance applications to readily integrate their information into the AMS Asset Portal.

End users benefit by having simple yet secure web access to all of their equipment diagnostics through AMS Asset Portal.

"Asset Optimisation is part of our vision for delivering improvements to help customers realise their potential", said John Hartley, UK Sales Director for Emerson's Asset Optimisation Division: "The vision extends beyond a plant's immediate maintenance and repair needs to a larger view that is focused on attaining maximum performance from a plant's assets".

"Using Asset Portal, the access to accurate, model-based equipment performance data and costs of degradation over a secure Internet link is an exciting innovation, and with the web-based Asset Portal it means that on-site personnel can team with experts anywhere for guidance and planning specific to their equipment.

These experts can be from the original equipment suppliers, from Emerson Asset Optimisation staff, or colleagues from similar plants across the world.

Obviously, this opens up major performance gains".
