E-T-A waterproof combined rocker switch and circuit breakers have been chosen as standard equipment on Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) for the Camel Trophy 2000.

For the first time in its history the Camel Trophy will be held on water, one of the highlights being a 200 mile open water crossing between Tonga and Fiji.

The E-T-A series 3130 rocker switch / circuit breakers have been chosen as standard equipment on the very exposed control panels of each RIB.

Their ability to stand up to severe environmental conditions combined with their electrical performance advantages make them ideal for the protection of installations and electrical equipment, including vital navigation and communication facilities.

The Camel Trophy is the world's greatest international adventure challenge combining mental and physical challenges with teamwork and friendship.

In its 20 year history it has evolved into a competition incorporating teams drawn from 22 countries, and has visited some of the most exciting locations on earth.

This year the teams will have the opportunity to explore the exotic waters and remote cultures of the idyllic South Pacific islands of Tonga and Fiji and hundreds of other islands, beaches, forests, lagoons and traditional villages.

Snorkelling, scuba diving, wakeboarding, abseiling, climbing, wave skiing and traditional exploration are all activities that the teams can employ during their 3 week journey of discovery and competition.

The complete event is due to start in Vava'u in the Kingdom of Tonga and end at Malolo Lailai, Fiji.

Neither country will have ever seen an international RIB event of this size before.

The 200 mile open-water crossing is a journey not usually made in small open boats, it demands skill to drive the RIB through heavy seas, and perseverance to navigate in potentially harsh weather conditions.

Camel Trophy 2000 should prove to be one of the most exciting and adventurous events ever undertaken in its 20 year history.
