E-T-A Circuit Breakers has a new high-performance aircraft-style thermal circuit breaker with a trip-free mechanism.
Available in versions handling up to 50A, the three-pole CBE is significantly lighter in weight than comparable products on the market.
The E-T-A 5140 high-performance thermal circuit breaker is a temperature-compensated, three pole aircraft style circuit breaker, with full ASNE and NSA approvals for all aircraft applications.
It is available in a wide range of current ratings from 20 to 50A for three phases up to 200V 400Hz.
In the event of an overload in any phase, all three poles will be disconnected.
All current versions use the same case size.
With a total mass under 150g, even with auxiliary contacts, the circuit breaker is lighter than any product of similar type currently on the market.
It is temperature compensated in the range from -55 to +90C, while qualified to operate in ambient temperatures up to +125C.
Optional auxiliary contacts provide additional signalling up to 0.5A/28V DC.
The threadneck, panel-mounted design of the E-T-A 5140 features a push/pull, on/off manual actuation.
An indicator band on the neck clearly shows the tripped/off position.
It has a trip-free mechanism which operates at very precise conditions of overcurrent.
This prevents the destruction of wiring and components in the protected circuit and minimises the smoke and fire risks that overheating can cause.
A high tolerance to sudden current surges is inbuilt, reducing the risk of nuisance operation, and enabling an optimum match of cable size to circuit breaker rating with weight and cost saving benefits.
By resetting the circuit breaker button, the circuit can be immediately repowered if desired.
The robust design of the E-T-A 5140 circuit breaker is well suited to extremely harsh conditions, making it suitable for many other application areas such as marine, land transport and industrial.
