Versatile drive eases integration process
Parker Hannifin's AC890 drive can meet the requirements of all variable speed applications, from simple motor speed control to integration of sophisticated multidrive automation or process systems.
Compact DC drive saves cabinet space
Cooling fans are only switched on when required and are constantly monitored for rotation, which eliminates unexpected machine downtime when the drive gets too hot.
The latest update to the technology box expansion modules offers users a wide choice of fieldbus options, covering Profibus DP, DeviceNet, CANopen and Modbus, as well RS422/485 and Eurotherm Drives' own LINK fibre optic drives network.
Additional system capability for the 690+ drive has also been expanded, with an add-on systems module.
This offers advanced system functions including five extra configurable digital inputs and outputs, four high resolution analogue inputs, two extra encoder inputs and two high speed inputs for register control applications.

Colour scheme draws attention to drive range
The new colours are being introduced on the latest versions of Parker SSD Drives' AC890 system drives, AC690+ AC vector drives, AC650 and 650V AC drives, DC590+ DC drives and DRV series DC drives.
AC drive system cuts installation time
Tthe 890PX' dedicated plug-in drive modules make setup or subsequent reconfiguration quick and simple, and standard pre-engineered hardware cuts costs still further.
The technology box philosophy provides an easy means of tailoring drive performance to match the needs of the application, whilst providing a robust means of protecting sensitive electronics systems, ensuring high performance is matched with ultimate reliability.
Each drive can accommodate up to three technology boxes.
The 690+ AC drives have been designed for the highest possible performance, with a single product offering three drive strategies: simple open loop control, sensorless vector control and closed loop vector control.
Simple open loop control meets the needs of less demanding applications, with the 690+ providing a drive that is very quick and simple to set up to get your application up and running as fast as possible.
Sensorless vector control makes use of Eurotherm Drives' MRAS (model reference adaptive system) technology to provide current control as well as speed control.
With this current control available in both open loop and closed loop modes, the 690+ can offer smooth running and robust, trip-free acceleration and deceleration even in critical applications demanding the highest dynamic performance.
The 690+ covers powers from 0.37 to 90kW, with versions up to 355kW on the way.
The 690+ is part of the Integrator drives family, which also includes the 590+ DC drive, with both technologies sharing an identical HMI (human machine interface), common programming tools and technology box options.
This means you only have to become conversant with one programming methodology regardless of which technology is required around a particular machine or application, making it simpler to work with mixed technologies around a plant.
Rationalising the programming across all the drives means you only have to become familiar with a single interface.
