Servo shows dynamic superiority
Eurotherm Drives has a new AC brushless servo drive - the 637+ series - that offers vastly superior dynamic performance and accuracy compared with previous generations.
Eurotherm Drives has launched a new AC brushless servo drive - the 637+ series - that offers vastly superior dynamic performance and accuracy compared to previous generations, plus an optional Hiperface encoder interface The servo has been specifically designed to meet the exacting demands of high-speed, high-precision applications including packaging machinery, shaftless printing presses and cut-to-length applications

Choice of fieldbus options for AC drives
Eurotherm Drives has extended its range of add-on expansion modules for its 690+ AC drive range to offer a wider range of fieldbus options and systems capabilities.
The increased capability of the 637+ has been achieved by addressing all areas that limit a servo's performance.
For example the current and speed loops are twice as fast as previous generations with both being sampled 10,000 times per second.
Analogue inputs are scanned at the same rate with a resolution of 1:65,000 allowing resolution down to 4rev/h.
As standard the drive feedback is resolver based but even higher levels of performance can be achieved using the optional Hiperface encoder.
The Hiperface encoder uses a combination of RS485 communications plus dual sine and cosine channels to provide highly accurate radial resolution of greater than 65,000 parts per resolution.
Together with a speed ripple of less than 0.3% it enables highly precise positioning to be achieved.
The Hiperface encoder also provides multiturn (4096 revolutions) absolute position feedback information to the drive on power-up.
This tells the drive exactly its position without the need for external datuming devices.
The 637+ incorporates a sophisticated built-in motion controller making it ideal for any positioning application without the need for external control hardware.
The motion controller includes advanced functions such as cam profiling, math's capability and logic functions and has a range of Fieldbus interfaces including Profibus, DeviceNet and Canbus.
The drives are available in ratings from 1 to 30A continuous (60A peak) and are suitable for either 230 or 400/460V AC supplies.
They are available worldwide together with a full range of high-performance servomotors, gearboxes, cables and ancillary control equipment.
