The Engineering Integrity Society is calling abstracts from fatigue practitioners and experts for its 6th International Conference, Fatigue 2007, to be held in Cambridge, UK.

The Engineering Integrity Society is calling abstracts from fatigue practitioners and experts for its 6th International Conference, Fatigue 2007, which is subtitled "Fatigue and durability assessment of materials, components and structures".

The event will be held at Queens' College Cambridge from 26th to 28th March 2007.

Building on the success of previous international fatigue conferences, the EIS expects authors and delegates from the aerospace, marine, land based transport, manufacturing and materials processing sectors, together with academia and commercial testing practitioners.

The conference will offer a first class opportunity to present and hear the latest research on a world stage.

Of particular interest are papers that advance the fundamental understanding of fatigue mechanisms, address engineering design criteria, refine techniques for in service prediction and inspection methods or describe the development and employment of computer-based simulation models.

Contributions will be organised into the following topically themed categories: multi-scale models; thermomechanical fatigue (TMF); materials processing against fatigue; manufacturing technologies and durability; computer simulation - verification and validation; accelerated introduction of new materials; and random loading/complex cycle analysis.

An intensive programme of oral and poster presentations is planned to cover the three-day event and keynote speakers so far scheduled for inclusion are Prof Paul Bowen, (University of Birmingham, UK), Prof Jean-Louis Chaboche (Onera, France) and Prof Gregorz Glinka (University of Waterloo, Canada).

As part of the EIS objective to encourage the career development of young engineers, the Durability Prize (certificate plus GBP 100) will be awarded for the best presentation made at the conference by a presenter under the age of 25 on 26th March 2007.

All of the papers accepted for presentation will be reviewed for publication in the conference proceedings (to be distributed in electronic format).

A selection of papers will also be chosen for inclusion in a special volume of "Fatigue and fracture of engineering materials and structures" (FFEMS) published by Blackwell.

Papers will be accepted on the understanding that the author(s) will personally attend the conference.
