Spiral hose range enhanced with size -40 model

An Eaton Corp product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 2, 2009

Eaton has enhanced its range with the addition of the GH466-40 spiral hose with a diameter in size -40.

The GH466-40 maintains a work pressure of up to 350 bar (5.000lb/in2) and features a bend radius of 780mm.

With its 500,000 impulse cycles it qualifies for leakage class 0, which was according to the SAE J 1176.

The GH466 sizes previously available - sizes -20 (DN31), -24 (DN38) and -32 (DN51) can be used at 420 bar for a variety of high-pressure applications (as per SAE100R15).

These include, for instance, large construction machines, agricultural machines or stationary applications such as presses or injection moulding machines.

In addition to a special hose design and the extension of the performance parameters of all components it is also the design of the fittings that makes the GH466 family of hoses so powerful.

The phenomenon known as 'compression set', which can always lead to leakages in the usage of rubber materials, has been intercepted by means of a self-sealing fitting design.

The fields of application for the new size -40 correspond substantially to those platforms for which size -32 is used.

Accordingly, of course, all other components then have to be aligned to this nominal width.

To this end, there are a selection of fixture/sockets from the Eaton range that are suitable: flat nipples as per ISO 6164 (1W40FH40), fissure size, flat (1W32FH40), SAE flange, size -32 (GC2453-32), square flange size -40 as per ISO 6164 and socket (1WB40).

When assembling the fittings processing is necessary with both inside and outside stripping (skiving).
