E2S has updated its intrinsically safe sounder and beacon, featuring improved functionality and lower cost.

The new three-stage IS-A105N and the IS-L101 high intensity LED beacon are approved to EN50020:2002 for use in Zone 0, 1 and 2 Gas Group IIC environments.

The sounder now has 49 user-selectable three-stage alarm tone configurations with an output of 105dB(A) at 1m; a 4MHz clock ensures that the outputs from all sounders on a loop are fully synchronised.

The IS-L101 beacon uses an array of ultra bright amber, red, blue or green LEDs to produce a bright flashing warning signal in hazardous areas, giving a far more effective visual warning than traditional xenon tube beacon alternatives.

The IS-L101 can be used in conjunction with the IS-A105N sounder, powered through the same Zener barrier or galvanic isolator and mounted together or separately.

An "alarm accepted" facility enables the sounder to be silenced for between 1 and 30min.

When coupled to a sounder, the L101-IS flashes at 1Hz, increasing to 2Hz when the sounder is silenced.

The IS-A105N measures 130mm square, the IS-L101 86mm square, both are sealed to IP66 and typically draw 25mA from 24V DC when powered via a 28V 300ohm Zener barrier.
