The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) has confirmed that it will again be supporting Southern Manufacturing - the region's largest and most successful engineering event.

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) has confirmed that it will again be supporting Southern Manufacturing - the region's largest and most successful engineering event.

Held on 18th and 19th February 2004 at Surrey's Thorpe Park, the annual exhibition will be home to over 400 stands from leading manufacturers in the aerospace and defence, autosport/automotive, electronics, packaging, pharmabio and marine industries.

SEEDA's presence confirms its commitment to helping businesses in the region maximise their potential and ensure long-term success.

Key to its programme will be the promotion of its GBP 5 million lean manufacturing initiative, which was launched earlier this year to help improve working methods such as productivity, order fulfilment lead time, inventory, waste and quality.

"SEEDA is delighted to once again be supporting the Southern Manufacturing show", says Bob Young, SEEDA Sector Group Manager.

"This year we'll be focussing on two of our major products: the lean manufacturing initiative and MAS - the Manufacturing Advisory Service".

"We want to build on the success of last year to make this the best show ever".

Southern Manufacturing - now in its seventh year - features themed technology trails to guide visitors between stands and a series of technical seminars including speakers from Brunel University and UK Trade and Investment - South East.

Thorpe Park will also host its sister show Southern Electronics, which will be highlighting the latest products and services in the electronics sector.

The South East contains more biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies than anywhere else in the UK, so the addition of the new pharmabio trail at this year's show is also a welcome addition.

Getting to the event is easy, with road access via junctions 11 or 13 of the M25, free parking and frequent courtesy coach transfers from Staines mainline rail station.
