Euchner has simplified safety switch wiring by incorporating modern bus technology into its highly regarded TZ switch.

The AS-i bus joins the TZ via M12 connectors linked to a distribution box, which is in turn linked to the AS-i with a safety monitor also provided.

The bus has reduced the complexity of wiring control for category 3 or 4 safety switches, especially in instances where more than one switch, for example an emergency stop, is being incorporated.

However, companies using bus technology are seeing other benefits apart from less complicated wiring, reductions in controller inputs and on large numbers of terminals.

The bus system allows a smaller control cabinet to be used, maximising space.

Furthermore, its straightforward installation reduces set-up mistakes, shortens maintenance time with faults becoming easier to diagnose and enables swift detection of tampering.

This, in turn, leads to reduced standstill times of expensive systems and machines enabling further savings.

Bus technology has previously been rejected due to the absence of safety-oriented stations.

The use of a safety monitor, however, has meant that failsafe PLCs are no longer necessary.

This enables companies to make further savings whilst increasing flexibility as there is no restriction on choice of controller.

The TZ switch, which has approval for a large number of applications, has retained many of its familiar benefits including multidirectional approach.

The housing remains extremely sturdy and accessories, such as actuators for all protective doors and assembly types, are also offered.
