Euchner (UK) is now offering enabling switches for the safe AS-Interface bus, which can be combined in such a way as to meet the requirements of all governing standards.

With the potential of AS-Interface expanding by the day, Euchner is constantly developing and adding to its comprehensive range of both safety guard switches and enabling switches.

When setting up or machining a component for the first time, many engineers will testify to the frustration caused by machines that will only operate with the guards closed, hence obscuring a good view of the workpiece.

To overcome this difficulty, the Machinery Directive stipulates that operation with open safety guards is permissible if dangerous movements are enabled by the constant actuation of a control alongside further protective measures such as reduced speed.

To address this, Euchner enabling switches can easily be configured so that the safety guards and emergency stop are configured in channel 1 and the output is used for switching to a reduced speed in channel 2.

A configuration of this type ensures that personnel can then work safely within what is normally considered to be the dangerous area of a machine.

However, there are numerous ways to integrate these controls and Euchner offers various enabling switches for applications of this type - all tailored to the customers specific requirements.
