Excelsys Technologies has launched a new web-based design resource centre that enables electronics engineers and system integrators to obtain exactly the right power supply for their application

Excelsys Technologies has launched a new web-based design resource centre that enables electronics engineers and system integrators to obtain exactly the right power supply for their particular application Following extensive development over the past few months, Excelsys' web site (http://www.excelsys.com) is now e-commerce enabled and features a configuration wizard to help speed user specification

The company has also completely restructured its business operations and manufacturing process to back the new web site with a fast-turnaround build-to-order service that guarantees shipment of up to five units - with full UL and European safety approvals - within 48 hours.

Customers are able to configure and order any of 30 million AC/DC power supply variants on-line, as well as request product-specific CB reports and download datasheets and CAD profile diagrams.

Excelsys is specifically targeting its new fast-response semi-custom power supply service at OEMs with requirements from 1 to 2000 pieces per annum.

According to Garry Tomlins, Commercial Director of Excelsys, "We expect our customers to benefit considerably from this service, which will enable them to significantly reduce their time-to-market by slashing lead-time, and to significantly reduce the design cost and time overheads of a new power supply procurement.

The service will also help customers around the world simplify their spares logistics, by effectively off-loading the problem to Excelsys and its distributors and knowing that we can ship any unit in 48 hours." The design resource centre enables users to quickly and easily configure any variant from Excelsys' renowned 3gen series of AC/DC power supplies.

This is the industry's leading family of configurable power supplies, offering over 30 million different power options.

The series offers from 1 to 13 isolated outputs, voltages from 1.5V to 60V, and currents from 0.5A to 80A.

Outputs can be connected in series or parallel to increase output voltage or current capacity, and the power supply can be configured to deliver up to 600W or 1kW of output power, maximising its cost-effectiveness across a broad spectrum of applications.

Using the Excelsys design resource centre to configure and order a power supply is simplicity itself, thanks to the site's configuration wizard.

The wizard simply asks customers to enter the number of outputs required, followed by the voltage and current requirements and any special features that are needed - such as logic enable/inhibit functions and mains failure detection - on each output.

The software then automatically generates the appropriate 3gen series product number, confirms the chosen configuration on a per-module basis, and shows the unit price in Euros and Dollars.

The e-commerce enabled site accepts on-line payment in either currency, and customers can order up to five units for build and despatch within 48 hours.

As part of its business restructuring to support the new service, Excelsys has entered into a partnership with FedEX to provide world-wide shipment and tracking of its products.

The web site also allows customers to place an order with their nearest point of contact if they prefer, simply by selecting from a drop-down menu of Excelsys' power partners around the world; each of these specialist companies employs personnel who have been specifically trained to provide on-site application support for their customers.

In addition to power supply configuration and ordering services, the Excelsys design resource centre provides electronics engineers and system integrators with an invaluable source of reference data.

Users can request CB and safety documentation reports, and download a wide variety of design material including product-specific mechanical layout diagrams (in.dwg and .dxf format) for use with the industry-standard AutoCAD package, a complete Applications and Engineering Handbook, and datasheets on the company's 3gen 4slot, 3gen 6slot and Low Noise series power supplies.

The handbook and datasheets are made available in PDF format for speed of downloading and consistency of style; users simply require Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view them on-screen or print them out for future reference.

Each of the datasheet files is less than 200k in size and can be downloaded in less than a minute.
