RJP Engineering makes sweeping changes
As part of an ongoing expansion and upgrade programme, RJP Engineering has invested in Esab AristoMig 400 welding systems in order to ensure the highest quality welding.
As part of an ongoing expansion and upgrade programme, RJP Engineering, a division of Scarab Sweepers, has invested in Esab AristoMig 400 welding systems in order to ensure the highest quality welding on all the fabricated parts that make up the company's range of advanced sweepers Scarab produces around 400 sweepers in a wide variety of shapes and sizes each year at its Tonbridge, Kent base, with 65% of production going for export with all the parts for the sweepers being manufactured by RJP - mainly in stainless steel and mild steel in a large range of material thicknesses

With 400A maximum power, the machine is able to perform heavy duty welding - further aided by the automatic water-cooling unit, whilst the flexibility of the machine also allows welding of thin materials to be carried out.
The MA6 control panel chosen by RJP provides many advanced features including Synergy and Synergy pulse MIG/MAG, and the AristoFeed wire feed unit is able to handle all types of wire from 0.6 to 2.4mm diameter.
With such an important investment, RJP Engineering wanted to be absolutely sure it was making the right choice of equipment for the upgrade, as explained by Andy Hills, RJP's Fabrication Manager, "We wanted the very best equipment available so we tried at least half a dozen different types of plant and put them on trials for quite some time before making a decision".
"Esab came out tops for quality of weld, ease of use, spares availability and particularly for backup service.
We already had some Esab equipment so we knew how good the backup was, particularly with the help we get from our local supplier, Electraweld".
As with any advanced equipment, it is only possible to realise its full potential if the operators are properly trained in its use.
This is another area where Andy Hills is particularly pleased with Esab: "As we take delivery of each machine we have an on-going training programme to make sure we get the best out of the equipment.
Either Electraweld, Esab, or both come in and give training wherever it is needed, then if any further training is required after that they come back in as part of the package.
