MIG welding wire in smaller packs

An ESAB product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 15, 2006

Mid-volume users can benefit from 100kg version of stainless steel MIG welding wire pack with same accessories as used on 250kg version.

Marathon Pacs with 250 or 475kg of wire improve productivity and quality for large-volume users of stainless steel MIG welding wire, and now mid-volume users can enjoy the same advantages without the consumption requirements and capital investment associated with the full-size Marathon Pacs.

ESAB's Mini Marathon Pacs have 100kg of wire and can be used with all the accessories developed for the 250kg versions.

Compared with traditional spools, Marathon Pacs reduce the number of times the welding process has to be halted for the wire to be changed.

Not only does this save downtime and labour, but also reduces the number of fabrications that have to be scrapped or reworked as a result of the wire running out.

Additional benefits accrue because the wire is wound in such a way as to give low-force feeding over long distances, straight wire delivery and consistent wire positioning.

There is less wear on the welding equipment compared with the use of spools, a more stable arc with less spatter, plus the packaging design protects the wire from contamination.

There are four grades of stainless steel wire of 1.0 or 1.2mm diameter available in 100kg Mini Marathon Pacs suitable for manual, semi-automated and robotic welding applications.
