Wire feeders are rugged but lightweight

An ESAB product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 24, 2007

ESAB's new welding wire feeders can be used with DC, CC or CV power supplies with straight (DC-) or reverse (DC+) polarity operation, without the user having to set any switches.

ESAB has introduced two new portable welding wire feeders, the MobileFeed 200AVS and the MobileFeed 300AVS, which are built into rugged yet lightweight carrying cases.

Both of these innovative wire feeders can be used with DC, CC or CV power supplies with straight (DC-) or reverse (DC+) polarity operation, without the user having to set any switches.

The feed speed range is 1.8-20.3m/min for wire diameters of 0.6-2.0mm.

Maximum and minimum primary input voltages are, respectively, 16.5V DC and 100V DC (113V peak).

The re-inforced polymer casing is highly resistant to impacts, moisture, chemicals and sparks.

As a result, the ultra-portable wire feeders are suitable for a wide variety of applications, including general fabrication, construction, pipelines, shipyards, offshore and mobile welding rigs.

A Euro torch connection ensures that set-up times are minimised.

Despite their unusual construction, the MobileFeed units still deliver powerful, dependable wire feeding.

This is due to the use of a heavy-duty four-roll feed unit with a PWM drive.

Further performance enhancements result from the automatic slow run-in and electronic dynamic braking facilities.

While the MobileFeed 200AVS unit accepts 200mm diameter wire spools weighing up to 6.5kg, the MobileFeed 300AVS accepts 300mm spools weighing up to 20kg.

Designed to meet the most stringent of standards, the ESAB MobileFeed units come with a three-year warranty.
