UK Custom Choppers has purchased two ESAB Caddy Tig AC/DC 2200i welding machines to produce bespoke motorbikes, which retail at between GBP80,000 to GBP250,000 for a one-off build.

According to Gurjeet Panesar, the owner of the motorbike company, the ESAB equipment is used to manufacture all the handmade frames, handle bars, oil tanks, fuel tanks, exhausts and fenders (mud guards) from the factory in Brackley, Northampton.

The frames are welded from T45-grade tubular steel, but even the wheels can be custom made on site.

Many of the components are made from stainless steel or aluminium, as well as tubular steel.

Although originally a qualified electrician, Panesar undertakes all the welding required to produce these products.

Commenting on the performance of the Caddy Tig AC/DC 2200i, he said: 'You can turn between aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel so easily - it's an easy machine to use when you are using every material.' UK Custom Choppers is just launching a new chopper-themed production bike, of which there will be just 100 made, prompting the customer to order five more ESAB welding machines.

The Cobra P1, which features a 900cc engine, will start at around GBP15,500, with a range of optional extras available to purchase if required.
