EEMUA, the association for significant purchasers and users of industrial equipment and materials, is re-starting its working group on ATEX/DSEAR as a result of recent renewed interest in this topic among its members.

The EEMUA working group will help operators of large facilities, such as chemical, food, pharmaceutical and other process plants, power stations, refineries and upstream oil/gas facilities, to share ideas and experiences about compliance with ATEX and DSEAR regulations, and working in hazardous areas, as well as providing the opportunity to contribute to the development of best practice.

The next meeting of the group will be on 12 April, 2005, at EEMUA's London headquarters.

EEMUA publishes a wide range of guides, handbooks, standards and other publications, available for purchase via the organisation's online shop.

The Association's Comp'Ex' training courses, first developed in the early 1990s for electrical craftspersons working in hazardous areas, are now held around the world.

This year, new Comp'Ex' modules are being developed for the water industry.

Members of EEMUA include companies like BP, Dow Corning, Octel, RWE NPower, Shell and others.

Contact EEMUA to enquire about membership of the Association - a necessary first step for those thinking of participating in the ATEX/DSEAR working group or one of the 14 or so other EEMUA technical committees.
