EEMUA publishes fourth edition of safety handbook

An Engineering Equipment and Materials Users (EEMUA) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 10, 2008

The Engineering Equipment and Materials Users' Association has published the fourth edition of its handbook on electrical installation and maintenance in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The fourth edition of 'A Practitioner's Handbook - Electrical Installation and Maintenance in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres' provides an update on the previous editions, with a completely rewritten chapter on hazards in the water and wastewater industry, together with revisions throughout the publication to take into account changes in standards, particularly in IEC 60079 - the principal electro-technical standard for explosive atmospheres.

The handbook offers guidance for safe electrical installation work in potentially explosive atmospheres, in such areas as petroleum and petrochemical plants, processing industries, power plants, petrol filling stations and more, when the failure to adopt safe working practices could result in the ignition of flammable gases or combustible dusts.

The publication is also closely associated with EEMUA's Compex training and competency assessment scheme, which provides essential knowledge and practical skills for safe working in such locations.
