The Acamar depth, speed and tension computer is an excellent tool for both standard and more complex slickline and e-line operations.

The value of recorded well depth and tension data during oilfield wireline operations is increasingly being recognised by both oil operating and service companies Even the simplest of jobs have been known to go wrong at some stage, often with serious lost time as a consequence

The use of recorded data is the primary means by which nonconformance may be investigated, leading to improved performance in future.

The Acamar depth, speed and tension computer is an excellent tool for both standard and more complex slickline and e-line operations.

As well as being a convenient means of recording a concise job log, the high brightness colour display gives clear depth, speed and tension information at a glance.

Depth and tension alarms and a scrolling chart with tension history provide extra safety features, while the tried and tested, intuitive eight-button control ensures minimum requirement for operator training.

"Computer based depth panels are not new to the industry", says Bert van Tuijl of Eztek.

"The compact construction sets the Acamar apart from both our other and competitors products.

Its small size and the fact that it is suitable for use in Zone 2 hazardous areas make the system ideal for both upgrading existing wireline units and incorporation into new designs".

Data downloading is a simple process.

At the end of each operation, or when required, the Acamar may be taken into an office and connected to the dedicated docking station.

This can be connected to any PC with a spare serial port, a small utility program allows data listing, downloading and conversion to text format for direct import into a program such as a spreadsheet.

For wireline truck operations, data can also be downloaded in-situ to a notebook PC.

By making the Acamar winchmans panel removable, it can be stored securely and even shared between operations where this is practical.

The system can be powered from either DC (10 to 30V) or AC (100 to 250V), if no power is available, a Zone 2 rated battery pack can be supplied.

For depth and speed measurement, an optical encoder is mounted to the standard measuring wheel, while tension information can be obtained from a stand-alone electronic load cell or by connecting a pressure sensor to the existing hydraulic "bellow type" system.

"The versatile sensor interface board is Eztek's own design", continues van Tuijl.

"It can be used for measuring a range of different sensors and application of the Acamar is not only limited to wireline operations.

We are currently developing several alternative products based on this technology and invite anybody who may require a compact and local means of data acquisition, display and control to get in touch with us and discuss their specific requirements.

In-house software and hardware development and a manufacturing facility coupled with over twenty years of experience in the oilfield allows us to provide fit for purpose, affordable solutions within the time constraints that are the norm for the industry".
