Industrial machine vision specialist Falcon-Vision has been working in close collaboration with the CKD Corp, Nagoya, Japan to produce a turnkey system for automotive lamp production Falcon-Vision has designed and manufactured a vision inspection system which is fully integrated into the manufacturing line produced by CKD

The complete production system is to be supplied to a leading automotive lamp manufacturer as production increases for a particular lamp type.

Falcon-Vision Sales and Marketing Director, Jozsef Kohalmi, commented: "The vision system we have supplied is much more than an inspection system for quality control.

It is completely integrated into the production line, providing control signals and also producing statistical process control data".

The vision system features a number of cameras positioned around a revolving turret.

The system makes various checks on a number of alignment parameters for the bulbs and feedback control allows adjustments to be made during the electrode positioning process.

All of the measurements made on every bulb are fed into a statistical process control system, which allows trends in the manufacturing process to be monitored and remedial action to be taken if the measurements move towards the permitted tolerance limits.

The vision system was assembled and tested at Falcon-Vision's manufacturing facility in Budapest, before being shipped to the CKD factory in Japan, where it was mounted onto the production line and fully tested again.
