One-stop supply service extends
university deal
The National Universities Working Party on Electronic Components (NUWPEC) has announced, in advance, its decision to extend the national agreement it shares with Farnell and CPC's onecall.
The National Universities Working Party on Electronic Components (NUWPEC) has announced, in advance, its decision to extend the national agreement it shares with Farnell and CPC's onecall Named in autumn 1999 as NUWPEC preferred suppliers, the two Premier Farnell Group companies launched onecall specifically for the higher education sector
The streamlined service significantly cuts administration time and costs and its ongoing commitment to developing further benefits for its customers has made it the supplier of choice.
Farnell, the distributor of electronic, electrical and industrial products, and sister company, appliance spares distributor CPC, provide through onecall a single point of ordering for over 200,000 products.
onecall brings together the best features of the two companies to provide a 'one-stop-shop' service - just one order for products from either company with a standard discount.
onecall combines Farnell's wide range of leading branded products with CPC's aggressive pricing structure and fast market response times.
Orders are taken by a dedicated team via phone, fax, e-mail or on-line.
Committed to delivering customer tailored services, one of the most significant achievements has been 'single invoicing', enabling CPC and Farnell to provide their education customers with just one single invoice, regardless of whether the order comprises goods from one or both companies.
Farnell Education Sector Manager, Steve Pusey, explains: "With 70% of UK universities converted to single invoicing onecall has changed the way university customers do business.
onecall reduces purchasing costs enabling the purchaser to dedicate more time to strategic buying and compliments the aims of many institutions to decrease order processing costs through vendor reduction.
To date over 11,000 university customers have access to onecall.
David Johnson, Chairman for NUWPEC, comments: "NUWPEC awarded the first ever national agreement for the supply of batteries, tools, electronic components, test and measurement equipment and semi-conductors to Farnell and CPC in August 1999.
Made for an initial three-year period, with the option of two further extensions of twelve months, the agreement has now just entered its third year.
At the NUWPEC meeting, held last week in Glasgow, we had a very positive discussion on the support and success of the agreement.
It is clear to all involved that there has been a very significant input of time, energy and financial support from both companies, which has helped to make the agreement a tremendous success.
"It is a unique agreement in that NUWPEC and the suppliers have developed a partnership that is totally supported by all the regional purchasing consortia and research councils.
The support we have received from Farnell and CPC in marketing the agreement has made it the most widely known National agreement in the sector.
As a result of our discussions the representatives from each of the regional purchasing consortia and the research councils agreed unanimously to take the option to extend the agreement.
It is a measure of our support for CPC and Farnell that we have taken the decision ten months early to extend the agreement until the beginning of September 2003." All onecall products are supported by free technical support and backed up with manufacturers' data sheets, data CDs and other information.
Additional support is provided to customers by a dedicated field and telemarketing sales force.
