FCX acquires Australian distributor

A Truflo International product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 15, 2005

FCX has acquired Melaar, the Sydney-based distributor of Graco products.

FCX - the specialist global distributor and manufacturer of flow control products and solutions - has acquired Melaar, a Sydney-based product distributor.

Melaar is a distributor of Graco products in the region, and the acquisition will allow Melaar's activities to be combined with FCX Australia's Speciality Products Division.

The company will operate as a separate product unit within FCX Australia and will be headed up by Phillip Butterworth, Melaar's existing Chief Executive.

Melaar was formed in November 2001 following a management buyout of the Graco business from Formula International.

Now part of FCX Australia, the combined operation gives FCX a strong core product group.

The extensive product range includes pumps, valves and related products designed to control the flow of lubricants such as oils, greases and liquid food products.

A substantial proportion of sales will continue to come from the production of high added-value pumping systems, which are similar in concept to actuated valve packages, but the combined range will also help open new doors to markets and customers.
