Version 5.0 of Cadfix aims to be the leading 3D data interoperability solution, breaking new ground in ease of use, speed of operation and supported file formats

TranscenData Europe will launch CADfix's latest version at Solid Modelling 2002 from 13th-14th March at The National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.

Version 5.0 aims to be the leading 3D data interoperability solution, breaking new ground in ease of use, speed of operation and supported file formats.

CADfix Version 5.0 will introduce significant enhancements in three key areas.

STEP assemblies will now be supported for import, export and merging.

Automatic defeaturing has also been enhanced, so that small faces and holes that are not relevant to an analysis will be eliminated from the geometry prior to meshing.

Finally all functions will benefit from a performance improvement that will see processing time cut by between 30 and 50 percent across the board.

CADfix is aimed at anyone who has to reuse solid modelling geometry.

The problems associated with transferring such geometry - either between modellers or from a CAD system to a downstream application such as finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or tooling - are many and varied.

They stem from the inherent difficulty in defining complex geometry in 3D space.

Different ways of storing surfaces and their boundaries - and particularly inconsistent tolerances - can all contribute to the success or otherwise of transfer from one system to another.

John Meaney, Head of Sales and Marketing at TranscenData Europe comments: "Solid Modelling offers TranscenData the ideal opportunity to launch CADfix Version 5.0".

"Our software has continually developed and improved over the years and now with Version 5.0's new range of features and improvements, we believe user experience will be greatly enhanced".

"We are delighted to be introducing these at the show".
