Engineering software tailored for German market

A TranscenData Europe product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 16, 2006

Engineering data interoperability software reflects the needs of new and advanced users and includes the first complete German language user interface.

Transcendata has launched v7.0 of its engineering data interoperability software, Cadfix, into the German market.

Added features reflect the needs of new and advanced users, with particular focus on the CAE market.

This version includes the first complete German language user interface to meet the demands of the continually expanding user bases in Germany and Austria.

Input from German and Austrian users has helped to shape v7.0, which includes the ability to import native files directly from UG, Solidworks and Inventor as well as updated support for the latest versions of all major CAD systems, including Pro/E Wildfire and Catia v5, and the Acis and Parasolid kernels.

Updates and enhancements are included for the standard Iges and Step interfaces.

Version 7.0 also supports the latest CAE systems and includes an export capability to the Centaur CFD mesher.

Feature selection, recognition and defeaturing algorithms are included for the CAE market.

The user interface has several enhancements for clarity and ease of use.

An always-active selection facility gives the user quick on-screen entity picking, and a feature-selection mode automatically highlights complex features in the model, such as groups of connected faces or fillets, ready for processing.

These rapid selection methods can be used with an instant-fix toolbar that presents some of the commonly used tools, such as entity deletion, creation and simplification, as immediate action buttons.

CAD models can be interrogated, and parts selected, via a model structure tree.

This lists all entities within the model, their definitions and relationships to each other, along with an ability to view and modify assigned attributes such as colours, layer and label.

Albert Eckert, Managing Director of Swap Computer, and Cadfix's distributor in Germany, said: "Anyone involved in design engineering will know how much the industry is changing and developing at the moment".

"Within the business of data exchange there are two seemingly irreconcilable challenges: one is to ease the translation of increasingly complex geometries between CAD systems (or from CAD to CAE); the other is to enable less specialist operators to carry out this translation work".

"Cadfix v7.0 meets both these challenges, and brings to market a product that continues and enhances its reputation as a high-end translator, able to offer reliable translation in the most complex geometric environments".

"At the same time, the instant-fix capability opens the door for novice users, who can expect the same level of reliability and accuracy at the touch of a button".

"Add the new German language interface to this extensive functionality, and Cadfix becomes an ever more invaluable tool for the German engineering market".
