Festo's Smart Electric Motor Controllers (SEC) AC305 and AC508 provide design engineers with integrated digital positioning control systems for brushless servomotors
Designed to ease the process of specifying, procuring and commissioning electro-mechanical positioning systems, Festo's Smart Electric Motor Controllers (SEC) AC305 and AC508 provide design engineers with integrated digital positioning control systems for brushless servomotors Model 305 operates up to 1,000VA, while model 508 extends that performance to 4,000VA

Mini Grippers offer Precision Automation
Automation specialist Festo has launched a range of miniature pneumatic grippers with a focus on high levels of precision.
Micro Grippers are Small but Fast
Festo has extended its portfolio of miniaturised products with the introduction of a range of exceptionally small micro pneumatic grippers designed to save valuable space.
Application potential crosses all key industrial sectors including pick and place systems, assembly robots, palletising machinery and general product handling equipment.
SEC controllers suit both direct spindle and belt drive environments.
Focussing on reducing the cost, time and complexity of designing, assembling and installing positioning drives, SEC controllers integrate a range of features and functions aimed at maximising flexibility.
Thus, only two models are required to cover the entire Festo servo-motor range, resulting in simplified ordering and stocking procedures.
In fact, Festo states that the SEC AC305 should suit up to 95 per cent of applications.
Key technical benefits include: integrated mains filter (CE compliant without additional external filters); integrated brake function, no need for a braking resistor, pre-assembled cables; and operating modes for current, torque, speed and positioning.
Both digital and analogue interfaces are provided, thus the controller can be used as a: decentralised positioning controller with I/O and/or serial interface; or a conventional speed controller directly interfacing to a third party PLC / PC.
At the heart of the system's flexibility is a software based configuration tool developed to speed and ease commissioning, the 'plug and work' Windows software allows fast optimisation of control parameters for the complete Festo axis range, while also offering third-party motor support using auto tuning features.
Taking application ease one stage further, Festo can provide motors, controllers and mechanical axis as tuned, ready to use drive solutions.
All the required technology is coordinated at a single source, eliminating compatibility and quality issues, while also offering a streamlined supply service for volume applications. Request a free brochure from Festo ...
