The Rosemount 5600 radar gauge demonstrates reliable performance in the stickiest applications, using advanced signal processing and smart echo tracking features.

The Rosemount 5600 radar gauge demonstrates reliable performance in the stickiest applications, using advanced signal processing and smart echo tracking features Liquid phenolic resin is a viscous, sticky liquid - when heated to over 70C and stirred

It also coats anything it touches, and so level measurement in the 12m-high tanks - in the presence of heating coils, agitator paddles and fill tubes - has been a challenge for simple radar gauges, with many false echoes from these obstructions.

The advanced signal processing technology used in the Rosemount 5600 software enables reliable surface measurement in such difficult applications.

Automatically the software collects and analyses data on the echoes received throughout the tank operating range.

This data is used to define the position and size of the "false echoes" from the tank obstructions - echoes that would be registered as a surface reflection using a conventional radar gauge.

The operator uses this data in the Rosemount Radar Master Configuration software to set a profile for the surface level detection threshold, so that echoes from resin build-up on tank obstructions are ignored.

Further, the Rosemount 5600 uses intelligent echo tracking to monitor the progressive movement of the surface level position, applying the logic that the surface movement is relatively slow, most of the time.

The Rosemount Radar Master Configuration software, installed on a laptop, enables remote access of the Rosemount 5600 transmitter using Hart digital communications - an important feature when the tank roof is relatively inaccessible, and heated to 70C.

From the comfort of the control room a complete view of the tank radar echo profile is available at any time, with the associated threshold levels and echo tracking logic settings used for surface echo detection.

Rosemount 5600 radar gauges have successfully monitored this hot, turbulent level measurement application in phenolic resin tanks, and achieved the reputation for reliability that the name Radar Master implies.
