When Warrington firm Altis needed a robust and waterproof enclosure to house its fieldbus equipment, it turned to Fibox for the complete solution Fibox manufactures polycarbonate and ABS enclosures that can be custom modified to any client's requirements

Fibox provided the Piccolo PC D85T customised enclosure that protects the electronic sensors from dust, water and impact damage.

Altis manufactures fieldbus systems to monitor and control piling rigs on construction sites.

Foundation piles can be formed using an auger that is "screwed" into the soil.

Concrete is pumped down the centre, filling the space formed as the auger is withdrawn.

The critical balance between the auger extraction rate and the concrete supply is monitored and controlled by the Altis Redbus system housed in the Fibox Piccolo enclosures.

The Fibox Piccolo is IP67 rated and protects the Altis electronics from dust, water and impact from debris.

At the same time, the enclosure's clear polycarbonate lid provides complete visibility enabling the operator to check the LED displays.

"We chose the rugged Fibox Piccolo enclosure as it totally protects the sensitive equipment and can withstand a hostile environment", said James Kidd from Altis.

"Of all the options available, we had the most faith in the Fibox product", he said.
