Magnetic filter proves its worth

A Filtermist International product story

Filtermist has signed a distribution agreement to market the highly innovative Magnom magnetic filter.

Filtermist, the Bridgnorth-based filtration and oil mist removal specialists, has signed a distribution agreement to market the highly innovative Magnom magnetic filter.

This new filter is capable of extracting ferrous particles down to below one micron with minimal drop in fluid pressure.

The core of the Magnom filter comprises a series of annular magnets.

The magnets are sandwiched between two profiled steel discs that focus and multiply the magnetic force to create "field effect" zones.

As the fluid passes through the flow channels in the profiled steel discs the contaminant is drawn into three-dimensional collection areas between the steel discs.

These provide significantly more contaminate holding capacity than conventional filters and, as the flow channels equate to 110% of the inlet area, ensures minimal pressure drop in the fluid passing through.

When full the filter can be quickly cleaned with high-pressure water or air and returned to full service immediately.

The filter has already been proven in a series of high profile roles, ranging from Formula One applications to the protection of online machinery at a major power station.

Based on this pedigree, the Magnom has also proved to be highly successful in a wide range of industrial operations, including grinding, metalworking fluid and wire EDM applications.
