Filtermist has recently supplied Cooper Roller Bearings, the world's largest split bearing manufacturer, with six further advanced oil mist removal units, bringing the total to 38 at thecompany's King's Lynn manufacturing plant.

The FiltermistXcel units use centrifugal impaction to remove oil mist at source and return it to the machine for reuse with clean air sent back into the workplace.

In 1907 Cooper designed and manufactured the worlds first split bearing.

Today the company boasts a global distribution network, with sales offices in the USA, Canada and Germany.

It is part of the Kaydon Corporation, which provides engineering solutions throughout the world.

Cooper produces bearings for a wide and diverse range of arduous and hostile applications, where space is at a premium and ease of access is prerequisite.

The company has established a reputation for quality and innovation, and it demands the same from its suppliers.

"With a large amount of machinery in the workshop we've seen considerable improvements in air quality after installing the Filtermist units", says Rod Sheen, Service Department Supervisor.

"We've been particularly impressed with the ease of installation, efficiency, and reliability".

"Our oldest units are approaching 30 years old, and you can barely hear them running".

"One of our 30 inch grinders used to vaporise 10-15 gallons of coolant a day; after fitting a Filtermist unit we now only use around a gallon a wee".

"That's a big saving and a far more pleasant atmosphere for the machine operator, not to mention a much cleaner environment for the factory".

"The old extraction ducts above the machines lost a lot of heat in the winter, and meant we had to draw the mist past the operators face".

Peter Johnston who has been with Coopers for 26 years added: "With the Climate Change Levy and the new health and safety legislation to contend with, we've tried other types air filtration but chose the new Xcel range of Filtermist products, because they are competitively priced and easy to install and service".

Filtermist reckons it offers the widest range of oil mist collectors of any manufacturer in the world.

The FiltermistXcel range provides extraction airflows ranging from 180 to 2750m3/h.
