Clean environment seals success
AES manufactures in an extremely clean and high-tech environment, and has selected the world's leading supplier of air filtration units for oil mist removal on its machines.
The continued success of Aesseal as the UK's second largest manufacturer of mechanical seals looks set to continue as turnover approaches GBP 43 million.
The company recently celebrated 25 years since founder and Managing Director Chris Rea OBE first started the company with a loan of just GBP 12,600.
It now employs nearly 700 staff and has a network of 180 branches, subsidiaries and distributors operating in 55 countries.
"The key to our success is rapid response, high quality manufacturing and multitasking staff for greater flexibility", says Paul Stewart, Workshop Manager for the Special Product Division.
"We can manufacture finished product within 3 days, and even have an ultrafast (red ticket) service available for 24 hour production".
AES manufactures in an extremely clean and high-tech environment; it has invested heavily in technology and operates an impressive range of CNC mills, lathes and large capacity machining cells.
These are all connected through a centralised CAD/CAM system that allows any of the machining centres to remotely access CNC programs and manufacturing data.
It's no surprise that AES has selected the world's leading supplier of air filtration units for oil mist removal on its machines.
The FiltermistXcel range uses advanced centrifugal impaction techniques to remove oil mist at source and return it to the machine for re-use, while clean air is sent back into the workplace.
The units are extremely quiet, lightweight and use high efficiency motors for low operating costs.
AES has now fitted Filtermist units to every single machine across three manufacturing sites, and is currently receiving encouraging results from Filtermist's "easy to use" cleaning cabinets.
AES is using the cabinets to remove fluids, dust and swarf from components within a controlled environment.
Stewart explains: "Health and safety issues and compliance with occupational health legislation are key factors for us".
"It's also very important that our suppliers are as responsive as we are".
"When you offer the rapid services that we do, you can't afford to have a machine out of operation when you need it most".
"We use Filtermist's contract maintenance service because it means we never have a problem".
"Filtermist has never let us down, respond quickly, offer first class back-up and support".
Filtermist reckons it offers the widest range of oil mist collectors of any manufacturer in the world.
The FiltermistXcel range provides extraction airflows ranging from 180 to 2750m3/h.
