Expanding filter range
Filtermist unveiled several new products at Metav 2002, the international fair for manufacturing technology and automation held in Dusseldorf during June.
The company manufactures and tests high-precision components and complex electromechanical assemblies, such as mass spectrometers and chemical testing equipment.
Some of Telvac's vacuum subsystems include UHV stainless steel precision assemblies, stainless steel and x aluminium vacuum housings, vacuum chambers, and gas control panels.
The company employs around 60 staff and has class 10,000 clean rooms and an automated aqueous cleaning plant to complement its welding capabilities and comprehensive CNC machining facilities.
To minimise the possibility of porosity problems, Telvac machines parts from solid billets wherever possible.
The removal of large amounts of metal generates large amounts of heat and consequently oil mist, particularly when machining stainless steel.
MKS approached several companies for advice, and turned to Filtermist International for the solution.
Machine Shop Manager Matthew Ensor comments: "The oil mist was visibly noticeable and you could smell it in the atmosphere".
"Although within legal guidelines for health and safety, we wanted to create the cleanest possible working environment".
"Filtermist impressed us with their professional approach; they measured air quality before and after installation and there was an instantaneous difference which our machinists now say they can't live without".
Telvac has also taken advantage of Filtermist's comprehensive service and maintenance agreement, Ensor adds: "The responsiveness and positive attitude from Filtermist makes dealing with them a pleasure".
"We reported a ducting pipe that had worked loose and they had an engineer on site and the problem fixed within 24 hours".
"We are particularly pleased with the thoroughness of Filtermist engineers and the fact they only fit parts that actually need changing".
